April PTR Newsletter

I don't get a lot of feedback on the events, but I hope everyone had a great time at the March indoor match. The results are posted on the web site. Remember that the total times are for the first two scenarios, the times listed for the speed shoot are not included.
Well spring is here and the new shooting season is upon us. Our first match is just a little over a month away, Saturday, May 13th to be exact. You can check the schedule on the website for other match dates. We will use the same format of three scenarios this year and if enough people want to stay we can shoot a fourth. Also if enough people are interested we can look into holding long range rifle events. GCL has a 200 yard rifle range.
I am still looking for scenarios so if anyone has ideas for or has written one please forward it to me. We have a lot of props to use, but the hardest part of putting on a good match is coming up with fresh ideas for the scenarios.
Anyone interested in Civil War history, artillery or re-enacting may want to come down to GCL on April 29th. The confederate artillery group I am with, "Moody's Battery - Madison Artillery- Louisiana" will be holding a spring boot camp from 9am to 3pm. We have a full battery of four cannons, one being a full scale mountain howitzer. Dry fire cannon drills will start about 10am with cannons being fired about 11am, marching drill after the lunch break. Everyone will be in full dress uniform or period clothing. Plans are to sell raffle tickets at a $1 a piece for a chance to be part of a cannon crew and pull the lanyard and fire the Howitzer a couple of times.
Looking for period cowboy clothes or maybe some "B" western duds. Contact Ms Doreen Clark of Clarendon NY. She made me a period correct wool and cotton cloth vest, and even had antique buttons for it, $45. She will use your pattern and cloth or hers, priced accordingly. She has Civil War period, soldiers, men's, ladies and children's wear. Check out her website http://www.historicalseamstress.com/menswear.html

Just a reminder that the Long Riders first shoot at Shortsville rod and gun club is April 23rd.

Well that's all the gab I got for now.
