Panorama Trail Regulators

 January 2006

Well, we started the new year out with a bang. Most said they had never heard of any indoor CAS shooting matches and never shot in low light. Pictures are posted on the web page. We had twenty-two cowboys and girls show up for the match. They were shootin it out with likes of The Desert Devils, also Jack McCall and his gang. Top guns are, in two gun, modern – Cart Wheel, traditional – Bristol Bisley, duelist – Crooked Sight. In one gun it was, traditional – Jumpin Jack Flash and duelist was Heavy Bear. For the Missouri Rangers it was Charley Ketchpaw. Derringer and the speed shoot were won by Bristol Bisley.

Our next match will be on Sunday, March 12th. Sign up starts at 9 am, safety meeting at 9:45 and the shootin starts at 10 am. We will have three scenarios. We will shoot two, then set up a third for those that want to stay. We will also set up a derringer/pocket pistol side match after the completion of the main two scenarios.

A couple of changes to be aware of at the indoor match. At the loading table you will load your main match pistol or pistols but will not remove your rifle from the rack or load it until the range is called clear by the SO.

Also we have established the following range commands.

Range commands: When the shooter comes to the line: The range is HOT

When the shooter has completed the scenario and the rifle is back in the rack: Make the range SAFE, SO and scorekeeper checks that the range is safe: The range is SAFE, go forward and score, tape, etc. After targets are scored and taped/reset: The range is clear. Next shooter loads rifle and comes to the line.

And finally some rules to remember when shooting at GCL.

 1. All guns should be in a case or shooting bag when arriving at the range, and should be transported to the range cased.

2. GCL runs a cold range, no gun handling except in the safe area.

3. Rifles should remain cased until they are placed on the racks provided

4. No ammo is handled in the safe area, anyplace else is ok.

That’s all the gab I got for now!

 Adios, “Twelve Bore”
