May 2006 PTR Newsletter

If yer interested in who beat who, ya can take a look at the results. The results will be posted to the web page in the next couple of days.

I would like to thank all that turned out to help set up, run the match and tear down afterwards. Thank you! At the next match I will start a workers drawing for a free match credit. So if you worked the May match, make sure your name gets in the hat.

Question was raised by a couple of members/spectators about us carrying guns to the line muzzle up. Turns out GCL has a no muzzle up rule. This means that guns must be carried to the line and back to the gun rack muzzle down. Not hunter carry but held by the receiver with muzzle pointed at the ground. Rifle and shotguns will still be placed in the rack muzzle up, actions open.

In checking around and looking at match fees from other clubs I noticed many give discounts for SASS members, so to fall in line with them we will give SASS members a $2 discount. So for SASS members fees will be, GCL members $6, PTR members $10 and non-members $14.

We are holding an RO1 course right after the regular match on June 10th. We have 10 people signed up. Course will be given by Rios and cost is $20. If you would like to sign up let me know ASAP.

We are trying to get long range rifle started at GCL. I am not having much luck getting it approved by the BOD because of the steel targets. For June we can shoot long range rifle at my house (if it works out maybe more). I have an 80ft long 8ft high burm and can shoot out to 130yds off the ground. We can shoot pistol caliber rifle, center fire rifle and the single shot buffalo guns. For June it would be the 11th or 18th, those are Sundays, start at noon and shoot till. Could also cook out if people wanted to stay.

Let me know if you are interested and what date is best. If both, tell me so it will make it easier to pick one. Also if you want to stay for chow let me know.

We have two new appointments to the town council. Rev Dave Clayton as honorary chaplain and Heavy Bear as rifle match director.

Well that's all the gab I got for now.
