REFLECTIONS

How often have we heard the phrase “you need eyes in the back of your head”, especially when it comes to self-defense?  The Japanese have a name for it – GENSHIN.  Genshin is the ability to know or “feel” something is about to happen.  We’ve all experienced it at one time or another.  Maybe we’ve stopped short of going around a corner because we had a “feeling” that if we kept going we would run into something, well that’s genshinGenshin can be developed and increased with training and if you choose that path GET COMPETENT INSTRUCTION!

Most of us don’t have the time to devote to the development of genshin, but there are things we can do to “have eyes in the back of our heads”:  1).  Be aware of your surroundings.  This is the single most important element of self-defense.  Constantly scan for potential trouble or something that looks out of place.  2).  Use reflective objects to see behind you.  Windows (store, car etc.) act like mirrors and are a great way to see if someone is behind you.  Reflective objects work great in the home also.  Hang mirrors or place reflective vases strategically in a room so when you approach the room you can see what is behind the wall or door waiting for you.  3). Don’t become complacent.  Don’t take for granted you’re safe because you’ve gone this way many times before.  Someone could monitor your routine and use that against you.  Look under your car as you approach it.  Look in the back seat and on the floor before you get in.  Watch for shadows and listen for noises.

All the above-mentioned actions with help develop and increase your “GENSHIN” mind and they are things you can do without really trying.  Just make them part of your daily life and see what happens.
